With its unique combination of high tempo rock guitar, a four-on-the-floor cowbell beat and a synth line that wouldn’t sound out of place in Van Halen’s classic ‘Jump’, ‘Blocking Blue’ is as modern as it is retro. Echoes of early Powderfinger mix with the ‘summer classic’ vibes of Reef ‘Place Your Hands’, and it’s hard not to smile as you let the energy take you over.

‘This track really came to life when we started playing with it in the studio. The bare bones were there from our acoustic writing sessions but when we started jamming with the bass and drums it just took on a life of its own. It didn’t even really feel like we were writing it anymore, it was just taking us where it wanted to go!’ Jesse Rudd-Schmidt
